TK Coaching Approach
My fundamental role as a coach is that of Change Agent. I am deeply committed to the success of my clients and to helping individuals, teams, and organizations move beyond the status quo toward their desired results.
The methodologies I employ as a coach are eclectic and customized to best serve the needs, interests, and identities of each client. My coaching and counseling training is rooted in the human potential movement and behavioral sciences, and enriched through my work with multiracial and multicultural communities and my commitment to equity and social justice.
I believe that each client is the "expert" in their own life, not the coach. I provide support to elicit the inherent skills, resources, and creativity that clients already possess. My assumption is that in helping clients to come up with their own solutions, there will be greater buy-in and motivation for them to act.
I encourage clients to develop self-awareness to enable conscious decision-making rather than relying on automatic responses or habitual patterns of behavior.
I offer feedback and balance compassion and support while serving clients as a "critical friend."
I help clients establish and work toward specific goals and encourage them to hold themselves accountable to their goals.
I am committed to building diverse and inclusive institutions. To that end, I support clients in the development of their cultural competency and am particularly invested in serving and supporting communities that are under-represented in formal leadership positions.
Coaching is a journey, not a destination. My work with clients involves listening from a commitment to help them unearth what they passionately care about and how that links to the future they want to create for themselves.
